Veterinarian Sara Langsam has been around horse racing since infancy and decided to make her passion for racehorses her life’s work. Born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, N.Y., Sara graduated from Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania, after which she completed a yearlong hospital internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky., before joining Teigland, Franklin and Brokken DVMs (TFB) in 2003. She worked at racetracks throughout the eastern U.S. and then started the Belmont Park/Aqueduct division for the practice in 2012, now working in New York year-round. She is an active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and has served on numerous committees including a current term on the Racing Committee. In her personal time, she enjoys photography, travel, her two cats and new golden retriever puppy, Owen!
My introduction to horse racing occurred: In a car seat! My parents were fans and then owners and breeders, so I have been going to racetracks all my life.
What I do for a living: Private racetrack veterinarian/partner in Teigland, Franklin and Brokken, DVMs
